After purchasing a new router, we try to use our Netgear wireless range extender to
use wifi. But, we notice that, we are no longer able to connect any device with
Netgear wireless range extender. We could see the network extended by the
Netgear wireless range extender but, we could not use it. It happens because of
the new router. New router comes with new settings, new network name (SSID) and
many other new things. But, the Netgear wireless range extender is still be
using the all settings set by the old router. So, when we try to use the
network extended by the Netgear wireless range extender, it does not work.
# Setting it up again using the WPS
If we have bought a new router, we have to set it up the Netgear wireless range extender once
again so, it could expand the wifi signals all over our home. The easiest way
to setup the Netgear wireless range extender with new router would be by using
the WPS (wireless protected setup). We just have to press the WPS button on the
new router and within two minutes of pressing the WPS on the router, we have to
press the WPS button on the Netgear wireless range extender as well. After two
minutes, the setup would be completed and Netgear wireless range extender will
start working.
# By making a hardwire connection
We could also make
changes in the settings of Netgear wireless range extender as per the new router by making a hardwire connection
between the Netgear wireless range extender and the router. Once, they both are
connected, we just have to open a web browser on a laptop or desktop and we
have to put the IP address of Netgear wireless range extender on the address
bar of the browser and search it. After searching it, it will ask us for a username
and password. After putting the username and password, we would be on the
settings of Netgear wireless range extender. Once, we are there, we could make
all the changes in the settings like the settings on the new purchased router.
# We also have the option of resetting the Netgear extender
If none of the above way discussed makes the Netgear wireless range extender to
work, we could simply rest the Netgear wireless range extender to factory
default. Once, we will reset the Netgear wireless range extender, it will
become like a new extender. All the settings will be set to default. After
that, we just have to setup the Netgear wireless range extender with new router
just like we first bought it. Then, we can setup the Netgear wireless range
extender according to the stings on new router.
